Our Journey Commenced with a Simple, Yet Profoundly Impactful Idea

 

The Genesis of a Movement

Every significant movement in history often starts with a simple yet profoundly impactful idea. For Solidarity 1804, this idea was the recognition that addressing historical injustices is essential for creating a fair and equitable future. Solidarity 1804 is built on the principles of justice, historical accountability, and collective action, aiming to rectify the profound injustice of Haiti’s independence debt imposed by France in 1825.

 

The Seed of Solidarity

The origin of Solidarity 1804 began with a group of dedicated individuals who understood the enduring impact of Haiti's independence debt. This debt, which demanded reparations for lost French property, including enslaved people, has left Haiti in a perpetual cycle of poverty and underdevelopment. The founders of Solidarity 1804 believed that through raising awareness and mobilizing international support, they could advocate for the restitution of this debt and promote sustainable development in Haiti.
